Wednesdays with Grandma

Mitch Albohm had his Tuesdays With Morrie, so it only makes sense that our lucky little girl has her Wednesdays with Grandma. I gotta say, this may be the only bright spot of our winter - as long as there is snow covering the golf course, Grandma Janis heads to town to see her girls (Addie gets her Wednesdays with Grandma, too!) Not only does Miss Evelyn get to spend some quality time with her Grandma, but it gives me the opportunity to run errands without baby in tow, or to just get out of the house for some "me" time.

This was the scene last Wednesday as we were getting ready for Grandma's visit.

Sleeping Beauty

I've been putting off writing this post for fear of jinxing ourselves. It seems as though Miss Evelyn has figured out how to sleep through the night! This past week, more times than not, she has slept for a 7-8 hour stretch! Way to go Miss E! We usually put her down around 8:30 or 9 and she doesn't wake up until about 4! The first couple times it happened, I found myself waking up around 1:30 to go check on her - I don't know if it was fear or disbelief! To my surprise, though, I found a girl who was fast asleep! Not too bad for 9 weeks. If I knew what we were doing to make this happen, I would be the first to bottle it up and sell it. :)

2 Months Already?

Can it be? We have been blessed with our little Pudge for 2 months already! Time has FLOWN by! She was lucky enough to celebrate the occasion all weekend with a visit from her Bama! I think the only time that girl was anywhere other than her Bama's arms was when she was in her crib at night - but both loved every minute of it!

Miss Evelyn is now cooing all the time and she smiles all the time. When she's being held, she loves to stand on your lap and I think she could do it all day long (unless, of course, she gets hungry.) You can really tell that her vision is coming along as she is starting to focus on objects more. When she is awake, she is much more alert and stays awake for much longer periods of time. She continues to eat like a champ, but isn't quite as ferocious. Don't get me wrong, this girl LOVES to eat, she just doesn't attack the bottle with quite as much force as she used to! We tried sitting in the Bumbo seat this weekend - she doesn't quite know what to think about it and wasn't too happy. We'll keep trying though!

Go Hard or Go Home!

Lately, it has become apparent that everything Evelyn does, she does with gusto! She breathes hard, sleeps hard, eats like a CHAMP and has been growing like a champ as well! She had her 2 month check-up today and here are her latest stats:

Height: 24 in., 96th percentile
Weight: 13 lbs. 8 oz., 99th percentile

Yes, that says 99th! Only 1 % of babies are bigger than her! My grandfather used to say that at the end of any job, project, etc., you should be able to say "I've done my job and I've done it well." Apparently, he passed that gene on to his great-grandaughter. When it comes to eating, pooping and growing, she does it well. :)

Such a Happy Girl!

Tuesday, I was finally able to get Evelyn to smile at something other than her own gas! Wednesday, I was able to snap a picture of it! She was smiley ALL afternoon and I loved every second of it! I was even able to get a little chuckle out of her. I think her smile and laugh may be the sweetest thing I've ever seen/heard. You just can't help yourself but to smile along with her. I mean really, look at those cheeks! Just try not to smile!

What a Weekend!

This past weekend was full of family and fun and we all had a wonderful time! Uncle Eric and Auntie Kylie came to visit from Kansas City and helped us babysit cousin Addie Friday night (Uncle Rusty & Auntie Leanne were celebrating their 5th anniversary - congratulations!)

Saturday, the entire Owens family got together for our annual dinner out to The Waterfront (no actual water, but awesome seafood - in IOWA!) This was Evelyn's first time eating out and we were so thankful to have Grandma Janis there to lend a hand!

Evelyn gets a snuggle from Uncle Eric Saturday morning.

All dressed up and ready for her first dinner out!

Best Friends

These last couple weeks, Evelyn and her cousin, Addie, have been spending a lot of time together. These two are quickly becoming best buds. Addie loves to help take care of Evelyn in any way that she can, and Evelyn is happy to let her!
