1 Month Old

I can't believe our little girl is already one month old! Time really does fly.
I had hoped to have some stats today, but due to an ice storm, Evelyn's doctor's appointment this afternoon was cancelled. I'm hoping to get it rescheduled on Friday, so I'll post her numbers as soon as I have them. I'm guessing she's nearing 11 lbs (if she hasn't surpassed it!) and 22 inches. Newborn clothes haven't fit her for a couple weeks now and she's nearly outgrown the 0-3 month size! She is consistently holding her head up on her own; she still doesn't like tummy time, but is tolerating it for longer periods. At night, she is sleeping for 3.5 - 4 hours at a time - I am so glad we have such a good sleeper on our hands! She tends to be a little bit unsettled in the mornings - she's not cranky, she just can't decide whether or not she wants to be awake, whether or not she's hungry, whether she wants to be held or sit in her swing, etc. However, she is usually pretty content by the afternoon and is happy to sleep most of the time, which allows me to get a nap or get a few things done around the house. All in all, she is a very good baby and we are so lucky and blessed to have her.

Daddy and His Girl

This picture was just too cute to pass up. After a late night at Grandma and Grandpa's house, Ethan and Evelyn took a little snooze on the couch once we got home.

Hi. My name is...

This weekend, Evelyn got to meet her great-grandpa, JD, who is Ethan's grandpa and Grandma Janis' dad. She was a very good girl and behaved herself the whole time! Great-grandpa was very proud of his little girl - to every passer-by, he announced "This is my great-granddaughter, Evelyn." Ethan even thought ahead a little bit and brought the video camera so that some day we can show her her great-grandpa. We hope that she will enjoy the occasion as much as he did.

Here is great-grandpa with his girls just minutes before Addie accidentally turned on his chair and took he and Evelyn for a spin, literally!

3 Weeks Old!

Today Evelyn is 3 weeks old - I can't believe how quickly these few weeks have gone by! As of last Monday, she is up to 9 lbs 3 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long (supposedly she was 21 3/4 inches at birth, so it makes you realize just how "accurate" the measurements are!) She's tolerating a little bit longer on her tummy every day and is getting better and better at holding her head up. This girl definitely takes after her daddy - she has an appetite that does not quit! Fortunately, unlike her dad, she doesn't treat hunger pangs like they are a matter of life or death.

Evelyn's Second Christmas

Because of WinterBlast '09, we were unable to spend Christmas day with Ethan's family. However, a few days later, they were able to make it up to see us and Evelyn got to have her second Christmas! This year has really made us realize that Christmas is not a date, it is about spending time with family and celebrating the holiday, no matter what day it is.

Evelyn's First Christmas

After some pleading with the doctor, and a good dose of the holiday spirit, we were blessed to be able to bring our baby girl home from the hospital Christmas morning. Bama and Papa were anxiously awaiting our arrival (No, really - Mom was standing in the living room window, waiting for us, when we pulled in the driveway!) We had a very uneventful day, enjoying time with mom & dad, and loving on our little girl.

The best Christmas present ever.
